Digital Venture Capital: The Digital Magics Demo Day

The incubator company offers results, new projects and strategic partnerships for investors and financial operators

Milan, June 29th 2011 – Digital  Magics, one of Italy’s the most prolific startuppers for online initiatives, has organized its first Demo Day in Milan. The event will offer participants the opportunity to get to know ten digital initiatives (the “Digital Top Ten”) from amongst the 25 startups that the Group has sustained throughout its first six years. With a discussion panel entitled “The main players in digital venture capital”, including some of the sector’s most renowned experts, the meeting will be an occasion to reflect upon the topic of high-tech innovation within our country, as well as on the international scenarios of a market in turmoil.

The Digital Magics LAB model

The Digital Magics model is one of its kind throughout Italy. The Digital Magics Lab offers creators and talents the opportunity to be flanked throughout the entire process needed to transform their ideas into companies, experimenting with formats, business models and disruptive technologies.

Being focused upon the seed stage, Digital Magics identifies and launches new startup companies thanks to the expertise offered by highly experienced professionals, as well as its own network. The Lab identifies about six initiatives each year, which Digital Magics then sustains by using the funds generated by the exits and by working with other operators in the industry.

Reserved for venture capital operators, business angels, industry groups and analysts interested in innovative business projects of high potential, Demo Day aims to become a fixed event that will be capable of fully exploiting the most significant projects, tracking their potential and providing concrete returns on investments. There will therefore be 10 companies presented, each of which will have 10 minutes to illustrate its uniqueness and originality. One-on-one ad hoc meetings will be organized for each of the startups (whether at the seed stage, the startup stage, or near to an exit) in order to offer a first hand look at their most salient and distinctive features.

The ten startups that will be presented at Demo Day are the following:

  • Bibop – Social TV – The first member-active Social Tv platform aimed at broadcasters for the monetization of their user base
  • Jumpin – Group Buying – Italy’s largest group buying project
  • Wazzap – Social TV – The social guide to all of the TV and cinema on the web
  • Mobnotes – Mobile Location Services – The social network based on mobile geo-localization
  • EasyBaby – Online Publishing – The Internet and TV community (channel 137 on Sky) for new mothers
  • Goods&Games – Mobile and Social Gaming – The network of social game developers based on a common system of monetization
  • LiveXtention – Social Advertising – The digital marketing agency that owns a web marketing optimization platform
  • Cooltip – Social Shopping – The Facebook affiliation network dedicated to women and quality fashion design
  • AdPersonam – Social Advertising – The profiled advertising platform that optimizes the advertising inventory of the social media networks

Finally, the Digital Magics Lab will present its new ideas and design lines that are currently in the incubation and pre-seed stages.

Partnerships

During the course of Demo Day, Digital Magics will announce its new partnerships that have been formed in recent months. The Group that has always worked with leading industrial and financial partners such as:

  • DLA Piper, one of the world’s leading law firms, for the purpose of carrying out joint research on the impact that the new digital value chain and new legal frontiers of Web 2.0 will have on the industry’s main players 
  • Neon Club, the Advisor company founded by Elserino Piol and Mario Citelli, for the purpose of sustaining the incubator company’s fund raising activities in the post-seeding stages.
