Milan, December 5 2018 – The new meeting GIOIN (Gasperini Italian Open Innovation Network) for 2018 will address the theme FinTech: innovation is fundamental and necessary for the finance sector, because it focuses on the user and the final consumer, by creating ad hoc products and services, revolutionises traditional models and accelerates their change. The event will take place on Wednesday December 12 in Milan, at the coworking campus Talent Garden Milano Calabiana.

Organised by Digital Magics, the most important incubator of digital startups “Made in Italy”, which is active throughout Italy, GIOIN consists of a series of events that take place in Italian cities, in which the opportunities offered by the paradigm of Open Innovation are explored: the innovation of processes, products and services of mature companies thanks to the technologies provided by external startups.

What is the future of Italian and international FinTech? It is one of the main sectors in which investments are concentrated, not only venture capital, but also from companies that want to innovate their digital infrastructures. According to CB Insights in 2018 FinTech investments were almost $33 billion globally with over 1,100 transactions. The FinTech unicorns (startups valued at over 1 billion dollars) are 33 and are worth, in the aggregate, over 115 billion dollars.

WHAT IS GIOIN

GIOIN is designed to deepen the opportunities of open innovation of processes, products and services, using technology platforms, through the collaboration with innovative startups.  GIOIN is in fact focused on sharing concrete experiences and “case histories”, by involving entrepreneurs and startuppers who are putting into practice the paradigm of Open Innovation in their fields.

GIOIN – Gasperini Italian Open Innovation Network – is the brainchild of the late Enrico Gasperini, Founder of Digital Magics and recognised as a pioneer and innovator, who passed away prematurely in November 2015. GIOIN, in essence, provides companies with information, training and sharing paths orientated towards accessing support tools and stimuli, aimed at the search for unconventional solutions, critical to addressing the challenge of innovation, improving industrial processes, generating value and creating new products and services through digital innovative startups. The aim of GIOIN is to train future Innovation Officers within companies.
